Lone Star Theatre is busy planning our inaugural season, and we want to keep you informed. We're planning a reading series, concerts, cabarets, parties, and a full length production of David Davila's play, ADAN Y JULIO, about star-crossed lovers caught in the Mexican drug war.

Artistic Director, David Davila
“Gay priests, drug lords, teenage assassins, Mexican prostitutes, crooked policeman, devout Catholic women, illegal border-crossers, mariachi singers, migrant workers, curanderas, and abuelitas rolling tamales, all inhabit the thick tapestry of David Davila’s Tex-Mex plays.”
David Davila was born in McAllen, TX and raised in the neighboring town of Edinburg along the Texas/Mexico border where he enjoyed a healthy appetite of enchiladas, and chile con queso. By the time he was able to talk he was already singing and acting for his family. By age eight he was writing songs, poems, and stories for anyone who would listen.
Today David continues to write songs, poems, and full length plays. He sings and acts at every chance he can get.
Davila studied vocal performance and theatre at the University of North Texas (Dr. Linda Di Fiore – Voice), and arts management at the University of Texas San Antonio (Dr. Melody Rich – Voice). He studied creative writing with famed Mexican-American novelist Denise Sanchez (Loving Pedro Infante, Last of the Menu girls), song-writing with Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days), and play-writing with Rogelio Martinez (Wannamaker’s Pursuit) and Kara Corthrum (Julius by Design) at the Einhorn School of Performing Arts in New York City.
He has performed in theatres all over Texas and New York City and currently performs with Essential Voices USA and the NY Pops at Carnegie Hall. He is the founder of LONE STAR Theatre Co, dedicated to promoting the theatrical talents of Texans living in NYC, a blogger for RSO's www.CRAZYTOWNBLOG.com, and a producer for SON OF A GUN ENTERTAINMENT.
For several years he has been writing a series of plays about life along the Texas/Mexico border which he ‘aptly calls his Tex-Mex plays. The series includes the plays MEN OF GOD, ADAN Y JULIO, AZTEC PIRATES & THE INSIGNIFICANCE OF LIFE ON MARS, CREDO, REQUERDOS OF MY LIFE, WINE & THE WAY WE EMBRACE, and THE FIRST TIME I FELL IN LOVE. He is working on several musicals with his song-writing partner Sean Havrilla, and just completed a massive, year long song-writing project called 52 Songs. He is a 2012 Primary Stages Rockwell Scholar.
